FAQs
Which class/workshop should I start with?
Our beginner classes and workshops are all appropriate for an introduction to pottery. However, some wheel students find that they are better prepared for success (and learn faster) if they have taken a handbuilding class first. Handbuilding provides an excellent opportunity to get a “feel” for the clay.
How do I join the class waitlist?
We know it can be tough to snag a spot when classes are dropped. If you missed out, please fill out the waitlist form here. Spots do occasionally open up and we’ll let you know if we can get you in!
Do I need a membership?
You do not need a membership to register for a class. All of our class series include numerous hours of practice time throughout the week during our regular business hours (listed on our Calendar as “Open Studio for Students”). Once you’ve completed at least two 5-week class series, you are eligible to apply for a monthly membership.
What do I need to bring with me?
We supply all of the necessary tools, aprons, clay, etc. Please bring a good attitude, trimmed fingernails and a hair tie. Remember, you’re going to play with mud, so wear something comfortable that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.
Where should I park?
We do not have on-site parking available for students, so please find a parking spot on the street or in one of the several public parkades nearby. While there are many options nearby, we suggest planning to arrive a little early to ensure you can find appropriate parking (especially if there is a Kelowna Rockets game on!).
Can I make up a class that I missed?
Subject to instructor availability, a private class can be booked with one of our instructors. Please let your instructor know if you know you will miss a class ahead of time or drop us an email.
What if I use up all the clay I was given for my class?
You will receive 8 lbs of clay when you start your 5 week class series. Keen students who use up all of their clay may purchase additional clay for $5/lb during our regular business hours.
Can I come and practice outside of class times?
You are welcome to book an Open Studio time for $20/3 hour session during your five week class series for additional practice. While we do have staff on hand, this is a self-guided practice time. Booking is required ahead of time via our website by clicking here.
What colour glazes are there?
For our 5 week classes, we offer five stunning glaze colours: Floating Blue, Spearmint Green, Snow White, Floating Orange and Clear.
