Want to give the wheel a spin? We have a number of different classes, workshops and course series for every budget and level of commitment.

  • This foundational 5-week course will guide you step-by-step through the entire wheel throwing process — from preparing your clay to centering, shaping, trimming, and glazing your finished pieces.

    You'll learn essential techniques for working with clay both on and off the wheel, building confidence and skill each week in a supportive, creative environment.

    2 hours of instruction time + 30 minutes of clean up

    Here’s what you can expect:

    Week 1: Wedging, centering and pulling your clay on the wheel
    Week 2: Trimming and throwing on your own
    Week 3: Throwing a mug or a piece to attach a handle
    Week 4: Handle Demo and learn to attach your own handle
    Week 5: Glazing your pieces and preparing them for the final kiln**

    Each week, you’ll receive 2 pounds of clay, for a total of up to 8 pounds of clay included in your registration. Need more? Additional clay will be available for purchase for $5/pound. Your registration also includes the use of all tools necessary.

    Special note: For your safety and comfort, please trim your nails and tie long hair back before class.

  • Level 2: Skill Building & Studio Practices

    This 5-week course is designed for students who have completed an introductory wheel class (or have equivalent experience) and are ready to deepen their skills, refine technique, and learn essential studio practices.

    Students will focus on improving consistency, learning new forms, and developing efficient studio workflows. In addition to advancing wheel skills, this course introduces real studio systems including bat usage and clay reclaiming — providing a strong foundation for independent studio practice and membership readiness.

    Skills covered include:

    • Refining cylinders and bowl forms

    • Trimming and repetition techniques

    • Advanced handle attachment

    • Bat system usage

    • Clay reclaiming and recycling

    • Surface design and glazing techniques

    This course is ideal for students looking to move beyond the basics and build confidence, consistency, and independence at the wheel.

    Prerequisite: Intro to Pottery Wheel or equivalent experience

  • Curious about the pottery wheel but not ready to commit to a full course?

    This 2-hour beginner wheel throwing workshop is the perfect hands-on introduction to working with clay on the wheel — no experience needed!

    In this guided session, you’ll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing, including how to center clay, form basic shapes, and explore the creative process of throwing on the wheel. With step-by-step instruction, you’ll create your own small bowl, cup, or vase.

    What’s Included:

    • 2-hour guided workshop to throw your own cup or bowl

    • All tools, clay, and materials

    • 2 pounds of clay per participant (additional clay available for purchase at $5/per pound)

    • Firing and finishing of up to 2 selected pieces — choose from three glaze options.

    • Aprons provided

    What Happens to Your Piece After Class:

    Your piece will be expertly trimmed by your Instructor and dried slowly in a controlled environment, then will be bisque fired, glazed by our instructors, and go through a second glaze firing.

    Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 3 to 4 weeks

  • Have you taken our Intro to Throwing class (or thrown before) and want another chance to get your hands back on the wheel?

    This 2-hour guided practice session is designed for returning beginners who want to build confidence, refine their skills, and enjoy more time throwing — without committing to a multi-week course.

    You’ll revisit the fundamentals of centering, pulling walls, and shaping forms, with more independence and instructor coaching as needed.

    During class, you’ll throw up to three pieces and select two favourite to be finished and fired. What’s Included:

    • 2-hour guided throwing session

    • Instructor coaching and technique refinement

    • All tools, clay, and materials

    • 2 pounds of clay per participant (additional clay available for $5 per pound)

    • Firing and finishing of 2 pieces — choose from three glaze options

    • Aprons provided

    What Happens to Your Piece After Class:

    Your selected piece will be trimmed by your instructor, dried slowly in a controlled environment, bisque fired, glazed by our team, and then glaze fired.

    Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 3–4 weeks.
